HCP/CureBlindness is a US-based non-profit organization that was founded in 1995 by ophthalmologists with the mission to cure needless blindness through the highest quality care at the lowest cost. They accomplish this by working with a large network of partners in low-resource settings (mostly across Africa and Asia) to strengthen local systems of eye care through the provision of ophthalmic care, training eyecare personnel at all levels, and providing ophthalmic supplies and infrastructure where they are needed most. They have also restored sight to tens of thousands of individuals through cataract removal operations. The RWN Foundation grant helped fund seven-week surgical outreach events in six locations across Ethiopia, during which HCP completed over 6,500 cataract surgeries.
