Seed funding for the nonprofit production and piloting of a new rainwater collection system that allows gutters to be attached to corrugated roofs via a custom-built hook, enabling water from monsoons to be collected for household and garden use. The collected water serves several purposes: improving sanitation during the pandemic; decreasing the miles and time expended by families to access formerly off-site water supplies; creating microeconomic opportunities for families who might sell their collected water or crops grown with it; and mitigating the widespread flooding and erosion experienced by communities built in floodplains. Pilot locations: Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Brazzaville (Republic of Congo). Sits at the nexus of RWNF’s health equity, climate, and sustainable communities priorities.
